The cultural heritage of Tsagarada…
A gios Dimitrios church is located in Agia Paraskevi district towards the road to Fakistra and Milopotamos beaches.
It is one of the most picturesque and well-conserved churches of Tsagarada and includes icons dating from 1794. In some icons is clearly shown the date they depict, like Theotokos (1794).
What distinguishes by far is the bell-tower, which stands imposing and dominates the surrounding area.
It is built of stone and special attention has been paid to the corners, as shown in the pictures.
The structure is quadripartite in height, while on the base a marble fountain exists which is fed with water from nearby sources.
During the celebration of Agios Georgios (Saint George), a traditional festival is organized in the surrounding area, in which the custom with the swings revives.
This custom had previously faded, but the efforts of the Tourist Association of Tsagarada as well as the help of several businesses of the village, made it nowadays a special activity for the wider area of eastern Pelion.
