The cultural heritage of Tsagarada…
A gios Ioannis church is located in Agia Paraskevi district towards the road to Milopotamos beach.
Exact date of construction does not exist.
Celebrates the day of the Nativity of Agios Ioannis (St. John) the Baptist and according to tradition, on the eve of the celebration revives the custom of «meager wreath».
In particular, once it gets dark, the villagers, as well as in other parts of Greece, light fires which burn the «meager wreaths».
This custom has very ancient origins, since, together with Agios Ioannis (St. John), subconsciously worshiped the sun of summer committees (summer sunflower).
Through the power of fire, catharsis is coming in humans as well, now that shorten of the day begins, leaving behind everything bad, hoping for a fresh start.
Symbolically, the fires set is three in a row, which should jump three times.
